Why do so many people overlook what seem to be the staples of good health, instead going for expensive trends?  LISTEN ABOVE Sun, 30 Nov 2025 04:08:22 Z Dr Luke Bradford: GP clinic loans "a part of the solution" /on-air/the-weekend-collective/politics-central/dr-luke-bradford-gp-clinic-loans-a-part-of-the-solution/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/politics-central/dr-luke-bradford-gp-clinic-loans-a-part-of-the-solution/ Labour leader Chris Hipkins has unveiled the party's first policy for next year's election - low-interest loans to support doctor-owned clinics. The scheme will offer up to 50 ten year long loans a year for doctors or nurse practitioners to open or buy into local clinics, interest free for the first two years.  After announcing their policy of three free GP appointments a year, questions were raised around how our already overwhelmed health system could manage more appointments.  LISTEN ABOVE Sun, 30 Nov 2025 02:23:38 Z Kathryn Berkett: Do we need to change the way we do prize givings? /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-parent-squad/kathryn-berkett-do-we-need-to-change-the-way-we-do-prize-givings/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-parent-squad/kathryn-berkett-do-we-need-to-change-the-way-we-do-prize-givings/ The school year is drawing to an end and soon enough, families will be filling school halls and gymnasiums for the end-of-year prizegiving.  For the star students or athletes, it's a moment of pride to walk across the stage and receive a well-earned award. For others, the whole thing can feel demoralising.  Never mind the awards themselves - there are clear differences between some, like the dean's award and the most improved.  But on the other hand, do we really want to be handing out participation awards? Are they inclusive or are they encouraging mediocrity?  LISTEN ABOVE Sat, 29 Nov 2025 04:57:03 Z Martin Cooper: How do you decide on the method of sale? /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-oneroof-radio-show/martin-cooper-how-do-you-decide-on-the-method-of-sale/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-oneroof-radio-show/martin-cooper-how-do-you-decide-on-the-method-of-sale/ It's one of the most important decisions a homeowner will make when putting their property on the market - choosing the your method of sale. Three lucky punters each one a share of the jackpot last night - $18.3 million each.  Not many of us will have the chance to come across tens of millions in our lives, but most of us will at some point get a large some from inheritance or a bonus or the likes.  So what's the smart thing to do when you get a big windfall, before the excitement takes over?  LISTEN ABOVE Sun, 16 Nov 2025 04:58:21 Z Alex Bartle: You'll need to lower your core temperature this summer /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-health-hub/alex-bartle-youll-need-to-lower-your-core-temperature-this-summer/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-health-hub/alex-bartle-youll-need-to-lower-your-core-temperature-this-summer/ Up here in Auckland we've been having some very, very hot and humid nights.  The kind of nights that make it impossible to get comfortable, where you just keep tossing and turning until you eventually give up and add an extra fan to your direction.  And it's only going to get worse as we head into summer - so how do we actually get a decent night's sleep when the weather's working against us?  LISTEN ABOVE Sun, 16 Nov 2025 04:12:37 Z Mark Mitchell: Frontline cops furious over McSkimming scandal /on-air/the-weekend-collective/politics-central/mark-mitchell-frontline-cops-furious-over-mcskimming-scandal/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/politics-central/mark-mitchell-frontline-cops-furious-over-mcskimming-scandal/ The IPCA released a scathing review laying out out a chain of senior-level failures around the McSkimming scandal.  The question now is whether the public can have any confidence in the police in general and in its leadership. The tariffs have cost the country over $300 million since they were introduced in April.  This weekend, President Donald Trump signed an executive order removing that extra 15% on beef, coffee, and tropical fruits, among others. Hardly anyone has anything further than a couple cards, or even just Apple Pay.  We all remember a time we'd get a gold coin for washing mum's car, or a couple notes for chopping wood, but those days seem to be gone.  How are parents going about pocket money without cash? Are we really giving our kids bank cards, and how young is too young?  And if money's not the right reward, are things a better deal for our children? among other policies.  The amount of meth seized both in the country and offshore has increased 266% over the past five years, and the estimated social harm from meth use was $1.5 billion last year.  LISTEN ABOVE Sun, 09 Nov 2025 02:30:14 Z Sara Chatwin: Helping your kids through exam stress /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-parent-squad/sara-chatwin-helping-your-kids-through-exam-stress/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-parent-squad/sara-chatwin-helping-your-kids-through-exam-stress/ We're on the brink of exam season and a lot of families are feeling the pressure.  As parents we can prepare our kids to study as much as we want, but there are other areas they will need support in.  LISTEN ABOVE Sat, 08 Nov 2025 04:53:14 Z Bryan Thomson: Don't let property policies stop you from buying /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-oneroof-radio-show/bryan-thomson-dont-let-property-policies-stop-you-from-buying/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/the-oneroof-radio-show/bryan-thomson-dont-let-property-policies-stop-you-from-buying/ There's a lot of uncertainty around the property market at the moment.  In the past decade alone, we've seen the introduction of the brightline test, the relaxing of the brightline test, countless policies making life harder for investors and landlords, and now the looming question of capital gains tax.  But how much does the government actually influence whether we buy and sell, and at what price?  LISTEN ABOVE Sat, 08 Nov 2025 04:25:56 Z The Panel with Richard Lindroos and Mark Crysell: Fireworks ban, BBC splices clips /on-air/the-weekend-collective/audio/the-panel-with-richard-lindroos-and-mark-crysell-fireworks-ban-bbc-splices-clips/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/audio/the-panel-with-richard-lindroos-and-mark-crysell-fireworks-ban-bbc-splices-clips/ This week on The Panel, Tim Beveridge is joined by National Fieldays Society Chief Executive Richard Lindroos, and presenter Mark Crysell, to discuss the biggest stories from the week that was.  LISTEN ABOVE Sat, 08 Nov 2025 03:19:18 Z Max Whitehead: Be careful when placing a complaint with HR /on-air/the-weekend-collective/smart-money/max-whitehead-be-careful-when-placing-a-complaint-with-hr/ /on-air/the-weekend-collective/smart-money/max-whitehead-be-careful-when-placing-a-complaint-with-hr/ Dame Noeline Taurua was stood down as the coach of the Silver Ferns in September due to 'significant issues' in the team. He said he was led to believe a complaint had been laid, and his resignation was in response to that - but he very recently discovered that no formal complaint was made.  Luxon has since said about Bayly, that he would have sacked him if he hadn't resigned first.  But what is the right way to go about an employment dispute like these?
