National is on a mission to stamp out gangs and wants to use an Australian model to do it.
The party is releasing its justice discussion document today.
Leader Simon Bridges says it will include a special police unit focused on gangs, which is in operation across the Tasman.
He told Mike Hosking it's been remarkably successful there.
Bridges says it's purpose is to harass and disrupt gangs with the goal of eliminating them.
"If a gang member hasn鈥檛 got a warrant of fitness and hasn鈥檛 paid their traffic fine, then in comes Strike Force Raptor."
Bridges says it would also deal with more serious crimes like methamphetamine offences and would confiscate the proceeds of crime.
