Christopher Luxon concedes many people are frustrated with the time it's taking for New Zealand to get out of the woods, economically.

GDP data, due out later this month, is expected to show the economy's been back in growth.

But that recovery has been uneven, with the primary sector and the South Island seeing the economy recover sooner.

The Prime Minister told Mike Hosking others have still been doing it tough.

He says people have been through Covid, high inflation and high interest rates, and are wanting to know when things will get better.

However, Luxon says things were on track to recovery late last year and early this year, but things changed after Trump's tariff announcement on April 2nd.

He told Hosking investors stopped spending and consumer confidence went through the flaw due to the uncertainty, and that created a negative sentiment loop.

Luxon does believe he鈥檚 a better Prime Minister now than he was in January this year, saying you learn all the time in this role.

He says it鈥檚 an extreme job, and by the time things arrive at the Prime Minister, they鈥檙e quite hard and difficult problems, but you get better and better at dealing with it.
