A product of the Halswell Hornets and St. Bede’s College, Stowers-Smith excelled in both rugby league and rugby union as a schoolboy but opted for rugby league after finishing his schooling.

Long time Canterbury Car Club member Lindsay Kerr, author, commentator and all round good guy spoke with Lesley about the announcement during the week that the phenomenally popular Supercars is coming to Christchurch to race around Ruapuna from 2026.
It means a lot of work is required to get the track up to speed from a safety perspective but Kerr has no doubt it will be done well in time.

Jonathan Stieller is the man that looks after the Weedons Golf Club, he runs the day to day operations for the golf club, as well as being one of the districts top golfers.
Jonathan spoke with Lesley Murdoch in association with the Elmwood Trading Company about the rapid growth of the club cross the last couple of years particularly in the junior ranks.

Kaiapoi has produced some golf notables including the 'Godfather' of Canterbury golf, Tom Whittaker, and more recently Amelia Garvey, a junior product of the club.

The club is rebuilding after a tough few years, but membership numbers are on a steady incline as Rolleston and Selwyn continue to grow.

Kemara has been ruled out of the remainder of the rugby season after suffering an ACL injury while playing against the Highlanders last week.
On the positive side, he’s confirmed he has re-signed with the Crusaders through until 2028.
A young man still making his way in the demands of professional rugby Kemara is excited to continue his journey with a club that has produced a number of world class 10s and is hoping that he can continue that legacy upon his return from injury.
Kemara spoke with Lesley Murdoch mid-week about the injury and re-signing.

Two late penalties from Crusaders replacement first-five James O'Connor, including one after the final hooter, saw the competition leaders steal the victory.
Penney says his team's defensive effort was a standout in wet and windy conditions.
He spoke with Nick Bewley the morning after, saving special praise for his side's defensive efforts and that of Fletcher Newell with the big prop going 80 minutes.
