Airports have been shutdown in the UK - with overnight snow storms blanketing much of Britain.
More than 100 thousand homes were left with power shortages - while many families were left stranded in their cars with roads too dangerous to drive on.

The heaviest snow was in Leek - in western central England - where 11 centimetres fell.
