Second seed Julia Goerges has beaten Polona Hercog 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court.
Goerges said considering the next round is later this evening, it was good to get it done in straight sets.
"It always helps, it never means that maybe you are fresher in the next one, but if you don't stay so long on听court听it always helps and hopefully I can do another one."
Goerges looks set to face Taiwan's Su-Wei Hsieh who leads second seed Barbora Strycova five-love in the third set.
However, rain has temporarily stopped play in that match.
The men's draw for the ASB Tennis Classic next week has been released.
The top four seeds of Jack Sock, Juan Martin del Potro, Sam Querrey and John Isner have byes in the first round.
