WorkSafe has set out to defunct the myths their rules are stopping Christmas celebrations.
One that's common is that lollies can't be thrown at Christmas parades - but WorkSafe's Operation and Support Manager, Brett Murray, said the idea is simply not true.
He said this year's myth is that companies can be responsible for dancing or alcohol related incidents, which has lead to functions not happening.
Murray said they have no idea where the myths begin.
"Quite often the first time we read about this, certainly I've read about it, is in the newspaper or on the radio themselves, and it's obviously just nonsense and not true," he said.
He said workers might need to look at their bosses if 'Health and Safety' is the reason they are given for not having a function.
"If they don't want to have a Christmas party for their staff because they're too tight or other reasons, why blame WorkSafe?"
