Wellington's mayor has been named one of the five most influential mayors in the world.
Celia Wade-Brown was mentioned with four others in a blog written by Claudia Toth for the Microsoft City Next website.
The piece says Ms Wade-Brown and her counterparts have not only championed diversity and equality, but are making their cities more sustainable, healthier and educated places to live.
It says Celia Wade-Brown is New Zealand's poster girl for cycling, and has led sustainability efforts in Wellington for the past nine years.
Claudia Toth writes Ms Wade-Brown is also leading economic development efforts, and is committed to making the capital a smart city.
