The Government's letting prescriptions be filled for a year maximum, before someone needs to see a doctor for a repeat prescription - an increase from three months.
Changes come into force in the first three months of 2026, costing the Government $91 million dollars over four years.
Hospitals are also in for a boost.
A 128-bed inpatient building in Nelson's expected to be finished by 2029, and part of a $1 billion investment will allow a new ED at Wellington Regional Hospital.
Health New Zealand is also getting targeted frontline funding.
The Government will also put $7 billion into health services over the next 4 years.
