Unite Union says the company, which owns KFC, Pizza Hut, Carl's Junior and Starbucks, will end zero hours contracts by July.
Restaurant Brands CEO, Russel Creedy, says they're putting in writing a promise that staff will have guaranteed hours, even though they always have.
"Well I think what it does is offer more security, and definite hours of work for them, so the belief that they have insecure hours is not really true."
"It's more around clarification of the practices in Restaurant Brands now being documented in a way that makes all parties feel more comfortable and understand."
Russel Creedy says staff will be guaranteed at least 80% of the hours they worked in the previous three months.
Labour's labour relations spokesperson Iain Lees-Galloway says other companies should take note.
"In the age of social media, those businesses that rely on having a good reputation in the public have come to understand the New Zealand public doesn't stand for exploitation of their workers."
