Tributes have been paid to a young 鈥渙ne of a kind鈥 Irishman who died after a tragic accident in Queenstown.
Dillon McDermott, from Galway, died last Wednesday in the resort town.
Emergency services were called to a Kent St address about 7.30am after reports of a sudden death, which police believe was the result of a balcony fall.
鈥淎t this stage, police believe the death is not suspicious,鈥 police said in a statement to the Herald.

鈥淭he matter will also be referred to the Coroner.鈥
Multiple police vehicles, including two detectives, attended the scene along with Fire and Emergency New Zealand and Hato Hone St John.
McDermott鈥檚 death has prompted an outpouring of grief from friends and family in New Zealand and Ireland, the Sunday World reported.
鈥淚 only met Dillon a few times in Galway back in the last of the college years but he was always a positive uplifting and considerate person,鈥 one mourner wrote.

鈥淗e brought a lot of friendship and warmth to people I care about which is a strong testimony to the light he had. I鈥檓 very sorry to hear of his passing and will pray for him and his loved ones.鈥

McDermott鈥檚 death notice states that funeral details are yet to be confirmed, but the service is expected to take place once his body is repatriated to Ireland.
鈥淒illon is deeply missed by his loving family, including his parents Tom and Patricia, his beloved fianc茅e Elle Burton, his brothers Sean Rossa and Lairgnen, along with Lairgnen鈥檚 fianc茅e Ciara Elwood and his adored niece Laura,鈥 the notice reads.
鈥淗e is also sadly missed by the Burton family, including Debbie, Phillip, Owen, and Jessica, by Dillon鈥檚 extended family aunts, uncles, cousins, and a community that has given Dillon a wonderful childhood as well as his faithful friends from all corners of the globe.鈥
