
A man was found heavily bleeding outside an Auckland supermarket this afternoon after a nearby vehicle was shot at.
The man was seen bleeding from his ear outside the Hobsonville Woolworths after a witness reported hearing a 鈥減op and then a crack鈥.
It is not clear how the man was injured.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Renfree said a police investigation is now under way after what appears to be an altercation between two groups of people.
鈥淎 firearm has been discharged towards a vehicle. Thankfully, there were no reports of injury in relation to this.
鈥淗owever, one person has been injured with a weapon and transported to hospital with moderate injuries,鈥 Renfree said.
Police are currently making a number of inquiries and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, as they are working to locate those responsible.
A nearby worker told the Herald she saw a truck driving erratically around the parking lot about when the incident unfolded.
A worker at a local takeaway shop told the Herald she heard three loud bangs and shut her door immediately.

She said she saw a black ute driving in the wrong direction around the parking lot, 鈥渧ery aggressively鈥.
鈥淚t鈥檚 just so shocking.鈥
Jini, a nearby shopper, saw the aftermath of the incident and spoke to the injured man.
She told the Herald she was at the supermarket for a bag of chips and then ducked across to the liquor store, where she saw a black modified jeep drive in the wrong direction in the car park like a 鈥渕aniac鈥.
She said the man driving appeared to be 鈥渧ery jittery鈥.
鈥淭here was a lot of noise, sounded like a pop and then a crack,鈥 she said.
She then saw a man in the car park bleeding from his ear.
鈥淚t was a big gash, blood everywhere.鈥
She said lots of shoppers nearby ran to help, including a paramedic who happened to be in the area.
Jini said the young man appeared 鈥渧ery flustered鈥 and told her that his jaw may have been broken.
She said she made the call to police as nearby shoppers helped the injured man.
Witnesses said there was a 鈥渉eavy police presence鈥 of about five police cars and an ambulance on the scene.
Hato Hone St John said it was called to a 鈥渕otor vehicle incident鈥 on Hobsonville Rd about 4.30pm.
Police said they believe this was an isolated incident and there is not thought to be any risk to the wider community.
