A man has been found dead on a Taranaki beach.
Police are appealing for information that could help identify the man found on Fitzroy Beach at New Plymouth around 6.50am.
Police said the man is thought to be in his 50s and of thin build with a white beard.
He was wearing a high-vis shirt and black sweatpants.
Residents around Fitzroy Beach may notice an increased police presence.
Anyone who has information that could help police is asked to contact 105, either over the phone or online, and reference event number P063666583.
