The Government is set to deliberate on sending troops to Iraq within a fortnight.
Prime Minister John Key says Defence Force planners are still in Iraq, carrying out scoping work.
He says cabinet will discuss a deployment shortly.
"I don't think next week, but before the end of February, so I suspect the week after that."
John Key says officials still need to gather more information, to put together a paper for Cabinet.
