The SPCA is welcoming a Select Committee meeting considering a ban on the public sale of fireworks.
The meeting will take place tomorrow - on Guy Fawkes Day.
SPCA boss Ric Odom says fireworks and animals simply don't mix.
He says the loud bangs and bright flashes are very frightening to animals, and many become highly stressed by them.
Mr Odom is urging people to be aware of the stress their fireworks are likely to cause in their neighbourhood.
