Christchurch's Redcliffs School is feeling confident over the future of their school, with an announcement to be made on its fate later today.
A submission was made to the Ministry of Education in a bid to save the school back in March, after Minister Hekia Parata deemed the school was at risk of rock fall in another large shake, causing unnecessary disruption.
Redcliffs School Principal Rose McInerney said they're optimistic they've proven their case to keep it open.
"We just feel like we've left not a stone unturned of what the Minister's been concerned about, so we're feeling very positive that the decision will be a turn around."
However, Ms McInerney said if they still chose to close the school there may be alternative options.
"We've got the possibility of challenging that decision in court with a judicial review, and so that decision will be made as a community if we decide to take that path."
She said they'll be hoping to announce the future of the school before midday.
