A Royal Commission of Inquiry into EQC is being welcomed by those still battling claims in Christchurch.
Minister Responsible for the Earthquake Commission Megan Woods, has confirmed the inquiry will go ahead.
"I think we've waited far too long to have an independent inquiry into EQC," she聽said.聽
"We want to ensure we learn every possible lesson we can from that."
It's music to the ears of EQC Fix spokesperson Cam Preston, who says until now insurers and the commission have bullied anyone who didn't have enough money to fight them.
He said it's felt like no one has been on their side.
"We have spent the last few years banging our heads against a brick wall and it is great to see we have some officials on our side for a change," he said.
Woods, who is also Minister for Greater Christchurch Regeneration, is looking to find new ways to bring momentum to the city.
