The Christchurch business community is welcoming equal pay legislation.
Public submissions are open on the Equal Pay Amendment Bill.
Canterbury Chamber of Commerce CEO Leeann Watson says they are very supportive of the government's step, but聽believes the issue of backpay still needs resolving.
"The details of ensuring legitimate claims are easily identified and settled need sorting out, to avoid unintended consequences for employers and workers.
The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce will be making a submission on the issue in the near future.
