A body has been found in the water at a North Auckland beach this morning.
The person, who is yet to be identified, was found dead in the water at Arkles Bay near Whangapar膩oa, 40km north of Auckland鈥檚 CBD.
鈥淧olice were alerted at 6.50am by a member of the public鈥, police said.
鈥淭he person has been recovered from the water and work is now under way to identify them and establish the circumstances of their death.鈥
No further information was available at this stage, they said.

A person at the beach said a blue police tent had been erected on the sand with some officers around it.
鈥淸There鈥檚] at least six cop cars from what I can gather. [And] a few locals having a look.鈥
