An animal activist organisation is calling for an investigation into the use of dairy cows in sexually explicit content posted on social media and adult entertainment subscription site OnlyFans.
Save Animals From Exploitation (Safe) is petitioning the Ministry of Primary Industries to stop the people producing video content of a sexual nature directly involving cows.
The organisation said it was 鈥渄eeply concerning鈥 to see the mother cows who are 鈥渁lready being exploited for their reproductive systems鈥 being further victimised by the videos.
The videos, some of which have been seen by the Herald, show women in bikinis performing routine farm tasks such as milking cows and sweeping the milking shed.
A woman is filmed kneeling beside the animals and drinking milk directly from the udder.
The Ministry for Primary Industries was now speaking to the social media content creators about the footage.
鈥淲hile an initial assessment of the video shows no breaches of the Animal Welfare Act, we will talk to the person involved to gather more information and satisfy ourselves that the animals are being properly cared for,鈥 said MPI director of compliance and response Glen Burrell.
MPI had also referred the content to police for their assessment.
鈥淪afe finds the actions of all individuals involved, whether directly or indirectly, to be reprehensible and entirely unacceptable.
鈥淲e demand full accountability from those responsible for the care of these animals for allowing such conduct to take place on the farm.鈥
They said the public 鈥減laces a great deal of trust with those who work with animals鈥.
Federated Farmers has been approached for comment.
