UPDATED 4PM:听Residents of the northern Wairarapa town of Pahiatua have been allowed to return to their homes, after a gas leak this afternoon forced them to evacuate.
Two fire crews were called to Kauri Place where a digger had struck a gas main at around 1.40pm.
A fire service spokesperson said the leak has now been sealed.
