Police are hunting the driver of a stolen vehicle that ran over a police officer, before ramming a patrol car.
Just before 11.30pm a stolen vehicle was seen parked near Southmall, Manurewa, Counties Manukau CIB Detective Inspector Karen Bright said.
Two police units signalled the vehicle to remain stopped.
鈥淎s police approached the vehicle on foot, the vehicle fled and hit a police constable and collided with a patrol vehicle,鈥 Bright said.
The vehicle was found abandoned in Manurewa.
The injured officer was taken to Middlemore Hospital for assessment and had since been discharged.
The stolen vehicle would undergo a forensic examination, and police were looking for the driver, said Bright.

She suggested the person involved should stop running.
鈥淲e suggest doing the right thing and handing yourself in at the nearest police station,鈥 she said.
