A person has died at Piha Beach on Auckland鈥檚 west coast today after being swept away by waves.
Police were called to the scene about 12.30pm after receiving a report of someone being washed away, a spokesperson said.
The Eagle helicopter was sent to search for the person.
鈥淪adly, they were located and confirmed deceased around 1.20pm,鈥 said the spokesperson.
The death will be referred to the coroner.
